To be someone of note is to be the most pious in the small Argentinian town of Santa Rita, and in her twilight years, Rita Lopez tries to be just that. Standing out from the rest of the older women in her church group vying for sainthood, she obsessively takes care of her local chapel and constantly prays at the altar. But when Rita finds a cherished statue of Santa Rita, long believed to be stolen from decades past, she'll go to great lengths to stage a miracle, attempting to win the admiration of her church and peers.

However, as Rita attempts to bring herself closer to God in the after-life, she'll soon see that her world on the ground is already full of its own marvels of unexplainable wonder, jostling her from her ideas of what it means to be a saint, and where salvation truly comes from. Tomas Gomez Butsillo's whimsical feature debut is all about the little miracles of life, and the beautiful mysteries of the everyday. Full of humor and heart, this film is a playful, yet melancholy salve for our current moment, and, in many ways, a miracle in its own right. -Zain Hashmat, NOFF Programmer
