Beginning of the 1960s, in the Algerian slum of Nanterre. Malika is five years old. Her mother just bought her a new pair of sandals. Sandals so white that the little girl never takes her eyes off them and doesn't see the truck backing up. It is the beginning of years of hospital, repetitive operations, suffering and struggle. Years away from her family during which the little Muslim, in the hands of nuns and Catholic nurses, goes to mass to discover music and singing. From then on, Malika will follow her dream and move mountains to become the one that everyone will one day call "the Diva of the suburbs".
