A recording of the play reading will be available Dec 3, 10AM - Dec 10, 11:45PM EST and a live Zoom Q+A will take place Sun, Dec 6, 12PM EST.
A story of friendship between an Arab mechanic and an Israeli young man, who over time is promoted to the position of commander of the West Bank. A clash between settlers and Palestinians threatens this friendship and forces them to reconcile with the powers around them.
Inspired by a New York Times article from 1988 regarding an incident that took place in the occupied territories. The Times changed the article three times due to inaccuracies. This inspired writer Marilyn Felt to travel to the West Bank and conduct in-person interviews with the individuals affected by this incident. Asher's Command is the result of those interviews and is ultimately a story of love, fear, destruction and hope; when unwavering ideology means the loss of family and home.
