Set in the Venezuelan city of Acarigua, The Shadow of the Sun is the heart-tugging tale of two impoverished brothers who long for a better life. Leo, a factory worker, slaves away day after day for pennies while Alex, his deaf and closeted younger brother, endures malicious taunting from his peers. When they learn of a music contest with a cash prize that could lift them out of poverty, Alex makes a proposal: he'll write the song if Luis, gifted with a beautiful voice, sings it. Reluctant at first to use his musical abilities, Luis takes a leap of faith and gets a literal band together to attempt to win the contest — and change the brother's lives forever.

Director Miguel Angel Ferrer will introduce his movie and have a Q&A after the screening.
