To kick off the One World Refugee Film Festival 2020, One World Arts is excited to offer viewers across Canada a free preview to our festival with the opening film I Am Rohingya: A Genocide in Four Acts, a powerful documentary that chronicles the journey of fourteen Rohingya youth who take to the stage in order to depict their families' harrowing escape from Burma. With no prior acting experience, the decision to re-enact the stories of their people becomes a courageous act of resistance, demonstrating to the world that they will not be erased, and they will not be silenced.
Catch Oxfam's program on the Rohingya Crisis on December 3rd, 2020 starting at 8:00pm. Join directors, actors, activists and policy experts in a live panel discussion that unpacks the intersections of art and activism. What role does filmmaking have in bringing to light gross human rights abuses? How do we move from learning about issues to helping create change? Join Oxfam to hear about the making of I Am Rohingya and discuss the ongoing need for humanitarian support for refugee communities around the world.
Tune in to our virtual festival from December 1-14, 2020!
The One World Refugee Film Festival 2020 is presented by One World Arts, in collaboration with UNHCR Canada, CARE Canada, Oxfam Canada, and Amnesty International Canada.
All proceeds from ticket/pass sales will go towards charities chosen by each organization.
