Across Thirty Hills is a student-produced film exploring the World Wildlife Fund’s struggle to develop a self-sustaining ecosystem restoration concession in the vanishing rainforests of the Bukit Tigapuluh (Thirty Hills) region in Central Sumatra. Burning, deforested vistas make a compelling case for the immediate action needed to save these forests, which both wildlife and local communities depend on. Working in tandem with these communities to establish sustainable economic income through traditional livelihoods, WWF’s approach to conservation emphasizes social forestry while creating a protected space for critically endangered wildlife in one of the most important places to the future of conservation.
