Director Biography - Irmak Karasu
Irmak Karasu is an artist and filmmaker from Turkey. She completed her MFA degree in Film Video New Media Department at The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. She is the recipient of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Core Artist-in-residence Fellowship; James Nelson Raymond Fellowship; Mithat Alam Education Foundation Achievement Award and New Artists Society Scholarship.
Her practice explores haptic visualizations of the female psyche and body under pressure. Her works have been shown and awarded in a range of film festivals, galleries including Helsinki International Film Festival, Istanbul Film Festival, San Francisco Dance Film Festival, Santralistanbul Contemporary Art Museum, MING Contemporary Art Museum and EXPOCHICAGO.
