Director Statement

"Peeps" came about out of a lot of inferior scripts that featured standard, linear plot lines and singular protagonists. I had scripts with all five girls, but I couldn't decide which one was my favourite, and I had a problem that I often have - where my desire to be completely truthful starts to conflict with my desire to tell a story. I wanted both, and I felt that sometimes in order to have one I would need to compromise the other.

So I had to find my own way of telling the story, one in which each girls' unique experiences and perspectives could coexist in the same film. As a result, I experienced the utterly magnificent feeling you get when you wander away from the conventional. The film makes its own rules, and I love that about it.

I hope you enjoy it.
