Director Statement

We shot "The Listening" over the course of a week in the small town of Fosterton, three hours north of Sydney, Australia. Working with a tiny crew, I drew strength and inspiration from the land as I sought to realise the story of a woman's growing fear of her own body through the experience of childbirth. Responding to the real life discovery of a dead fox and bitter early morning frosts, together we crafted a film that speaks to the timeless workings of the natural world and the ghosts, past, present and future held within.
