Our story follows Abdallah and his fight for survival in one of the most toxic places on earth, Agbogbloshie, Ghana. Beyond the deadly fumes of the electronic dump and scrapyard, lies a community that wins his heart. Abdallah forms a special bond with Kofi and Lartey, two boys who look to Abdallah for dreams of a life beyond the dump.
Sasha Rainbow is a director who has worked across multiple disciplines. Her short documentary Kamali, about a seven-year-old Indian girl breaking gender stereotypes through skateboarding, won Best Short Documentary at Atlanta Film Festival and Raindance and Camerimage and was longlisted for an Oscar, nominated for a BAFTA and was released through RYOT films in October. She is currently developing her other award-winning documentary Kofi & Lartey into a feature film.
Sasha is part of the BFI Network X BAFTA Crew 2018 and 2019 and attended Yaddo artists residency in 2019. She has recently been selected as one of 8 participants for the Women In Film mentoring scheme 2020 in Los Angeles. For the past few years she has been focusing on narrative film to highlight social causes, which has taken her around the world. Sasha believes in the power of storytelling to throw light onto underrepresented heroic role models, which, she thinks, is just what the world needs.
