Billions of dollars worth of seafood are exported from Southeast Asia, so what happens there affects the world. Thailand and Vietnam, having exploited their own fishing grounds into oblivion, move in on Cambodia's. Current Sea is an environmental thriller examining the harsh realities of illegal fishing and the difficulties of ocean conservation. The film follows investigative journalist Matt Blomberg and ocean activist Paul Ferber in their quest to protect what they love, the sea and its future. The dream: to create a conservation area, to create more habitat, to convince the government to patrol and enforce, and to inspire new generation of Cambodian environmentalists. Their main tools? People. Education. Hope. It will take more than that to stop the illegal fishing. Join Bloomberg and Ferber as they head out every night to change what they can.
