When Bindu, a whip-smart East Indian high school student, becomes disgusted with the clumsy ethnic taunts and bullying of her classmates, she decides to take advantage of an exam that will allow her to escape from classes. Since time and money become her next enemies, she embarks on a day-long fund-raising campaign and quite an adventure.
