In the small rural community of Red River, Mac Bagley reluctantly opens his home to a Syrian refugee family (Layla, her daughter, Heba, and Layla’s brother, Salem). Enduring some initial opposition in town, the Syrian family struggles to find its footing, and Mac also struggles to find renewed faith in life after the death of his wife. Layla introduces Mac to her Muslim culture and proposes that they open an Arabic ice cream (booza) shop to help both families financially. With no work, Mac begrudgingly agrees. Will Layla’s Arabic ice cream be the elixir that creates a new future for all on Jasmine Road?
