In the early 2000s, a handful of peasant women from the mountains of southern Turkey formed a theater group. In QUEEN LEAR, they travel the dusty, risky roads to the farthest-flung mountain villages with an adaptation of Shakespeare’s “King Lear.” Along the way, their lives merge with the story world presented in the play. While exploring “the good and the bad,” “the young and the old,” “the rich and the poor,” “the honest and the dishonest” in the play, “King Lear” turns delicately into “Queen Lear" as they travel to the next theater.
