Corky has been in captivity for 53 years (currently at SeaWorld SanDiego). She is the world’s longest-held captive orca. The film brings attention to the change in public sentiment about keeping orcas in captivity and illustrates how public pressure led SeaWorld to end the breeding of their orcas. The film provides insight into the recent efforts for sea sanctuaries, some that are now in operation and others that are currently being planned, giving hope that Corky and other captive cetaceans can be returned to their natural ocean habitat.
