In this cinematic essay, the filmmaker intertwines imagery from her own daily life with the memories of Lisa (Yelyzaveta), an 18-year-old Ukrainian who lived in Montréal for a few months. Two strangers, so far, yet so close.

Originally from Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Romane Pilote Lamontagne studies film at UQÀM. Through her work, she seeks to breathe life into fragments of memory, either by bringing them into the light or by weaving them into fiction. To Be Eighteen (The War) is her first film.
