- Note"No Trace" is a film combining powerful formal desires with existential and philosophical questions that I have been pondering for years. I wanted to respond to this impetus by telling a story that represents a certain quest for meaning based on a sincere need to make sense for myself of the absurdity and the lack of explanations of our modern lives and of the world as it is offered to us. The film is set in a universe that is not completely out of touch with reality, a universe that could be described as uchronia or even dystopian science fiction. However, I insisted on setting this story in a sort of "Quebecness" through the language used and the identity of the main protagonist as well as by anchoring the story in a specific geographic area (the banks of the St. Lawrence river).
