December 1987 and Ralph starts using the family video recorder. Accidentally recording over the footage of his parent’s wedding, he records a startling amount of cable TV, creating a treasure trove of eighties nostalgia.

It’s this tape that forms VHYes, a loving pastiche-cum- parody-cum-homage to cable nostalgia that plays like disjointed eighties pseudo-memories – cop shows, shopping shows, talk shows and more fly by.

The humour is firmly tongue in cheek, and VHYes – as the title implies – is the perfect homage to all the shows you remember and the dusty VHS tapes you (or your parents) have gathering dust in boxes in the garage. But there is more at play here than simple homage, and as the video unwinds it becomes clear that the satire at play could be commenting about more than old TV shows.
