What sacrifices would you be willing to make in pursuit of your own redemption?

After many years of life scarred by PTSD, 5 men and 2 women veterans of the wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq, travel to the heart of the Peruvian Amazon to participate in shamanic ceremonies and heal their traumas.

This documentary tells their stories, their experiences and their traumas. For them, PTSD has become an invisible wound that traditional medicine has not been able to heal.

Frustrated with a society that does not understand them, and unable to find answers with conventional treatment methods, they decide to embark on a journey of transformation that will change their lives forever.

In a last act of faith, these veterans decide to travel to the Amazon jungle in search of a much-needed cure. They must relive their own stories and fight their own demons.

The jungle will become the battlefield; a group of shamans will become their allies; ancient ceremonies will become the weapons. The enemy... themselves.

Will they find the peace and redemption they crave through this ancient medicine?

These are their stories before, during and after this experience. Stories of war, mental health and nature as the only relief from their traumas.

At the end just voices of a silent war that need to be heard.

Director Biography - Carlos Bruno Cejas

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

From a very early age I had an interest in film and art, which led me to study film at the University of Buenos Aires.

Soon I started working as a professional in the field of directing and photography.

Throughout my career I have worked with several television channels such as History Channel, Discovery Channel, BBC, Biography Channel and MTV.

During my career I was able to work in different documentaries with Argentine war veterans and also with victims of the Argentine military dictatorship.

I witnessed the ravages of post-traumatic stress disorder and the impact it has on society over time, hence my interest in a series of topics with a strong social commitment.

AYAHUASCA NOW is my Opera Prima and is currently having an outstanding international tour, being selected in festivals in countries such as Argentina, Venezuela, Ecuador, Italy, Israel, Japan and the United States among others.

That is why I believe that the presence in festivals is crucial to be able to give voice to these stories that deal with war, mental health and nature. With this film I want to reach a wide audience in an open debate that does not seek to polarize but to unite us in values that we all share.

Ultimately, my hope is that the viewer can identify with the experiences narrated and feel part of this quest for redemption and healing.
