Director Biography - Scott Bednar, Jessie Wilde
Scott Bednar is a filmmaker and digital media strategist with over 15 years of experience producing award-winning content for NASA, aiming to bridge the gap between science, engineering and the arts. As a Senior Digital Media Manager, Scott oversees creative direction for multimedia productions and helps guide digital outreach strategy for NASA and other organizations. With an extensive background in science and storytelling, Scott has produced several high-profile products including documentaries, short series and live broadcasts that make complex scientific topics accessible and engaging to mass audiences. Scott’s fascination with space was first inspired by “The Pillars of Creation,” a famous Hubble image. Now he has the honor of helping to share that inspiration with others.
A writer and filmmaker, Jessie Wilde produces award-winning videos and digital media products for NASA with the goal of engaging the public with science, research, exploration and technology through a creative lens. With a background in multimedia journalism and creative writing, Jessie is motivated by honest and accurate storytelling that people can connect and relate to. Outside of work, she has a love and fascination with sailing. She lives part-time aboard a 44-foot Kelly Peterson sailboat that she and her husband refurbished and sailed offshore from the Florida Keys to Maine. She published an article about the sometimes-arduous but often-rewarding experience in The American Scholar magazine, is writing a book, and her short film about the adventure has played in several film festivals.
