Director Biography - Thibault MARTIN

Producer and director of commissioned films for 20 years, Thibault felt ready to dive into cinema in 2017. While writing a feature film, he developed the script, directing, and production of his first short film, "Nos Futures," in 2023. Among its 20 selections worldwide, it was featured in the official competition at the Shortshorts Tokyo 2024. The film won, among other awards, the Grand Prix at the FICAA in Mexico and the Best Male Performer award at the São Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil.

Building on the experience of his first work, Thibault continued with a second short film, which he wanted to be more organic and sensual than the previous one. "CEINTURE" was released in early October 2024. It tells a story confined within the film, set in a timeless atmosphere, with a strong main character understood only in the last frame, and features a magnetic visual and sound aesthetic.

Self-taught, versatile, and optimistic, he enjoys making the extraordinary seem plausible and imposes few limitations on himself; for instance, starting a filmmaking career at 50. Deeply aware of democracy's fragility, he believes that everything is political and strives to express it in a poetic and universal way. He founded the production company Artmystis Films in 2022 to tell "backbone" stories that resonate with all generations. A team-player, he gives equal importance to both image and sound, which he particularly champions.
