In a working-class Boston apartment, a toddler's demands are pulling two new parents under. Tina carries the weight of everything, certain she's the only one holding it together. Danny retreats into books, searching for a connection he can't find at home. Neither can see what the other is carrying or why.

When both cross paths separately with Sophia, a woman who has everything money can buy but is missing everything it cannot, they are finally forced to see each other, perhaps for the first time.

Director Biography - Abigail Jean Lucas, Alecia Orsini Lebeda

Abigail Jean Lucas

Abigail Jean Lucas is a multi-hyphenate creative working across writing, directing, acting and music. Trained in Meisner and Michael Chekhov techniques with performance experience at The Juilliard School, she moved behind the camera to gain agency over the stories she wanted to tell. She brings a background in business and marketing to the production side, because she believes independent artists can understand and drive their own work.

Her work is fueled by motherhood, human dynamics, and the complexity of love, loss and relationship. Having lived internationally across Europe and Latin America, she speaks English and Spanish and carries those experiences into everything she makes.

She founded Late Fall Films to produce her directorial debut, Late Fall, prioritizing character-driven storytelling and entirely local New England talent. She is also a cinematic vocalist with an album scheduled for release in 2027.

Alecia Orsini Lebeda

Alecia Orsini Lebeda is an award-winning producer and multi-media professional with nearly two decades in the film industry. Her career spans directing, line producing, production design and audio engineering. She is President Emerita of Women in Film and Video New England, a 40 Under 40 honoree, and an Imagineer recognized by Imagine Magazine. Her work as Line Producer on Same Same But Different screened at SXSW 2026. She is a Board Member of the Woods Hole Film Festival and an adjunct professor at Lesley University. Late Fall is her directorial debut.

Director Statement

I wrote the first draft of Late Fall almost ten years ago. I wasn't even a mother yet. But I already knew these characters, because I was becoming them.

I grew up watching my parents navigate a class divide. I grew to realize that you can have everything and still be poor in the ways that matter most. That became Sophia.

Tina and Danny are the modern couple. The woman who is working and mothering. The man trying in ways no one sees. Neither villain. Neither victim. Just two exhausted parents who stopped looking at each other, until something forces them to.

It ends not with answers. It ends with a single moment of grace, a flicker of hope in a situation that may or may not survive.

I made this film for every parent who has felt invisible in their own home. And it took me ten years to earn the right to say it.
