Motheo, a lonely musician and debt collector with a ruthless boss, finds his world turned upside down when he falls in love with his latest assignment, feisty single mum and enterprising wedding planner Refilwe. For Love and Broken Bones is an engaging and unexpectedly tender gangster flick come love story with Philip Marlowe tones that is genuinely funny at times, darkly gripping at others and overall entirely entertaining. Written and directed by up and coming South African talent Teboho Malope, and produced by Angus Gibson (director of last years Back of the Moon) this is a rollicking, unpredictable and charming yarn, bolstered by great performances and an excellent live music soundtrack. Well worth the ticket.
