This zany, action-packed film features accomplished acting, inventive cinematography, and a plot twist guaranteed to surprise. Joshua’s dream of making it big in off-road cycle racing crashes when he has an accident. He’s taken in by Mambo, who runs an orphanage in Cape Town. Mambo, Joshua, and the troop of high-spirited boys are all African refugees. Joshua is haunted by flashbacks to scenes of fear and destruction in his country of origin, but a romance with a dancer from a privileged background anchors him in the present. On discovering that things at the orphanage are not what they seem, Joshua takes a principled stand, violence threatens briefly, and a chase ensues. Overall, a feel good movie, with a light touch.
