Ruth Finley, a pocket-sized woman of immense determination, has been the queen of the fashion industry since the 1930s. She was born in Haverhill, then headed to Boston to become a Simmons University (formerly College) graduate from the class of 1941. As a young mother, Ruth created the iconic pink Fashion Calendar, a publication that continues to organize and marshal American fashion today. Featuring Bill Cunningham, Carolina Herrera, Nicole Miller, Diane von Furstenberg, and more, this joyous profile is a love letter to fashion and the extraordinary life of one remarkable woman. Ruth made an impression on NYC in other areas, too, such as being an active board member of Citymeals on Wheels.

On March 10th, watch a special livestream panel discussion hosted by our screening partner, the Peabody Essex Museum, about Ruth Finley and her impact on the fashion world, featuring Director/Producer/Cinematographer Christian Brunn, Writer/Producer Natalie Nudell, Associate Producer/Fashion Calendar employee Mary Myers Hackley, and PEM’s own Petra Slinkard, Nancy B. Putnam Curator for Fashion and Textiles.
