Films of 1975
By the mid 70's it is difficult to distinguish any particular school of filmmaking: the film art has fragmented in a multitude of strands. Directors develop each in their corners their own styles and production technics. The years prior to the cultural globalisation of the 90's are remarkable by their diversity. As Sands Films Studio celebrates its 50th year in business, the Cinema Club looks at four iconic but hugely different films made in 1975.
ATTENTION: We have not been able to clear the rights to screen BARRY LYNDON; we will therefore only talk about it and show an extract to illustrate the essence of the film. We will also take this opportunity to show other extras of another film made at the same time in particular the brilliant (but 4 hours long) film EDVARD MUNCH by Peter Watkins. Both films are epic period dramas.
