As our hands move
with guest performances by Clive Bell and Raf Alero
As our hands move is a constellation of original compositions, field-recordings, spoken text, arranged folk tunes and interpretations of verbal and text scores that interrelate and speak to each other - sonic representations of fragility and struggle, togetherness, intergenerationality and affection. It is a gesture that aspires to capture the ephemerality of music making “with self – with other(s) – with context/environment […] Letting go of old patterns - letting go of new patterns. Repatterning” Pauline Oliveros (2010). This event is a celebration of friendship and a love of making and playing together, and we’d love to share the album with you.
We’ll be joined by special guests Raf Alero and Clive Bell, who will each perform a solo set.
Breakfast Club is a quartet of flutes (Detta Danford and evi nakou), recorders / voice (Rhia Parker) and cello (Natasha Zielazinski) brought together through a love of making music. We have performed in venues across the UK and Greece and collaborated with Melissa Network, Women for Refugee Women, Magpie Project, Barbican/LSO Culture Mile, the Greek National Opera and Onassis Stegi, amongst others. Through sound, music and text we are constantly looking for ways of opening a crevice through which memories, stories and voices are given the space and time to resonate and connect with each other. Breakfast Club is an expression of our shared experiences - a celebration of friendship and a sounding of togetherness through unique sonorities and repertoire.

Raf Alero are an experimental sound artist and composer working with found sounds, voice, sonic manipulation and analogue synths.
Clive Bell is a musician and composer specialising in East Asian musics. He studied the shakuhachi (Japanese flute) in Tokyo, and the khène (mouthorgan) in Laos and Thailand. His solo album, Asakusa Follies, is on Cusp Editions. Recent collaborators include Jah Wobble, Sylvia Hallett, Sidsel Endresen, Jaki Liebezeit, David Sylvian, Kazuko Hohki, Complicite and Karl Jenkins. His flutes were recently featured on the hit game Ghost Of Tsushima. Clive's most recent release is Betamax vs Clive Bell, recorded for Byrd Out with his son Maxwell Hallett (The Comet Is Coming), with sleeve art by Raimund Wong. Based in Tottenham, London, Clive writes regularly for the music monthly The Wire.
