Yair Lev


Yair Lev of Tel Aviv University (Film and Television). As a student, he created the short documentary “The Making of Absolute Beginners” that followed the course of the film "First Beginnings” (directed by Julian Temple and starring David Bowie, filmed at Shefferton Studios, London). Upon his returning to Israel, he directed his final film, a short film named "Holes in the Hands" (1987), which was featured in Munich Short Film Festival, Prague Festival and Badalona Festival.

His film "You Only Die Twice" (2018) co-produced by David Deri, who also filmed and co-wrote the script, was a major success, both in sales and reviews. The film is a documentary thriller the follows Lev, acting as a detective and reveals the man who stole his grandfather's identity during World War II. The film, a co-production of Israeli-Austrian co-production with NGF, has featured in more than forty international festivals around the world (including Doc Spring, Thessaloniki, Diagonal-Austria, Chagrin Falls-Ohio, and Krakow) and has won numerous awards as well as nominations for the Ophir Award.
