Improvised, shot on two iPhones over the course of a 12 day road trip, with a crew of 3, THRESHOLD follows a sister, claiming to be cursed, as she persuades her brother to embark on a cross country road trip to break her spell. Convinced she's using drugs, he agrees to the trip with one caveat: if there's nothing at their destination, she goes straight to rehab.

Director Statement

THRESHOLD is a movie made purely from love, tenacity, and trauma. We certainly had nothing else to our name. Shot on 2 iPhones and no script, our process involved taking 5 people (2 directors, 1 producer, 2 actors, 2 cars) on the road for 12 days. We shot constantly and in public, often in extreme weather conditions. In Utah our phones froze. In Vegas they overheated. As did we, often sleeping in the same room night after night.

Beyond the process, the entirety of this film rests on the shoulders of our titanic actors. They blessed us with tremendous chemistry, heart, and an overwhelming ability to make us cry on ‘set.’ Our only goal is to deliver a film they’re proud to watch with a crowd.

POWELL ROBINSON

Powell Robinson is a narrative and commercial Director based out of LA. 

His first feature film, BASTARD (2015) co-directed with Patrick R. Young, was distributed domestically by Fox Home Entertainment & After Dark Films, as well as worldwide by Tombstone Distribution.

Since then he and Patrick directed a second feature Powell also acted as Cinematographer on: THRESHOLD currently in post production.

Powell's commercial career has included directing the live EDM tour visuals for Seven Lions since 2017, narrative branding spots for BEI Construction, select high-concept music videos, and directing voice over work for Adult Swim's game Death's Gambit.

PATRICK R YOUNG

Patrick R Young is a narrative feature writer & director based out of LA.

Five of Patrick's scripts have been successfully produced, including BASTARD (2015) which he co-directed with Powell Robinson en route to a distribution deal with Fox Home Entertainment just one year out of college (USC). His other films include Greenlight (2020 - Winner Shriekfest Best Thriller), My Teacher, My Obsession (2018 - Netflix), Pretty Little Stalker (2020 - Netflix), and THRESHOLD (2020), which he also co-directed.

Patrick has also written for Parcast's Serial Killer podcast and recently optioned two new horror scripts. He is rep'd by Gordon MacDonald at Buchwald.
