Highlights include the award-winning short Tap Boy (UK, 2021), where a vulnerable teenager finds escape from a violent gang by practicing tap dance. The darkly humorous An Evening With Taglioni (UK, 2021), by SFDFF regular contributors Jessica Wright and Morgann Runacre-Temple (Jess and Morgs) is their latest film commissioned by English National Ballet and is based on a true story from when legendary ballerina Marie Taglioni, the first woman to go ‘en pointe’, retired. Her pointe shoes were bought by a fan… Then cooked at a lavish dinner party and served to 35 guests.
The concept of the story is originally based on Korean Shamanism, thought to be compatible with Surrealist expression. Su-hyun, a young Korean dancer hides his face in a fool mask and dances to light his dead father's path in a temple.
