She was a phantom, someone’s wife, someone’s daughter, someone’s mother, never her own person. In her suburban home, she craved touch, warmth, tenderness. She wanted out, out with a bang. And so she “flipped the switch, and the power came on”. After 20 years locked up in a sexless inferno, housewife Morgana frees herself, in extremis, and learns to spread her... wings. At the incomparable Berlin Porn Film Festival, she is propelled to the top of a female-led sexual revolution.

Following the ups and downs and upside-downs of down-under homemaker turned porn filmmaker Morgana Muses, directorial duo Isabel Peppard and Josie Hess take us on the glorious ride of a lifetime. In their debut feature they write an open letter to all invisible and emotionally secluded women, who were forced by society into a miserable life of heteronormative submission. They dig into Morgana’s intimacy and mental health troubles with endearment and authenticity. Through their benevolent female gaze they fully dismantle the male-generated romanticized desperate housewife fantasy, and give voices to the most wonderful erotic performers and sex workers.  Morgana  is abundantly sensual, pure fun, deeply sad too, and everything in between. It is a licence to live judgment-free with people, starting with yourself. It is a tale of self-allowance and acceptance. Reinventing yourself, taking ownership of your body, finding your community, battling your demons, rebuilding your intimacy, here are a few lessons from your new favourite “never too old” feminist mentor. An inspiring, sex-positive documentary for anyone in need of an orgasmic awakening. – Celia Pouzet, Fantasia Film Festival
