Roundtable Discussion with Public Q&A

Wednesday, July 8th at 2pm PDT

Gold continues to be one of the main metals mined in Canada and on the planet, with 90% of gold demand driven by the luxury market (e.g. jewellery), financial investment products, and central banks’ reserves. Despite some initial mine shutdowns and a sharp decline in the jewellery demand, the COVID-19 crisis has driven the gold price to an 8-year high and seen an unprecedented increase in demand for gold investment products. Banks’ gold reserves are also reaching an all-time high. What’s driving this demand?

COVID-19 or not, this film screening of The Shadow of Gold and post screening round table discussion attempts to better understand how gold is affecting your community, your environment, and what can be done about it?

On July 8th, 2 PM PDT join hosts Jamie Kneen (MiningWatch Canada) + Robert Lang (Kensington Communications and Co-Director of “The Shadow of Gold”) for a discussion with regional correspondents from BC + Canada's North.
