National Farmworker Awareness Week

March 25 - 31

We're thrilled to share with you Shine Global's powerful documentary The Harvest (La Cosecha) in honor of National Farmworker Awareness Week 2024. Executive Produced by Eva Longoria, this eye-opening film sheds light on the realities faced by farmworker children in the United States and is a powerful call for action to close child labor loopholes. Let's come together to raise awareness and advocate for change!

Since 2015, US child labor violations have increased 300% and, in the last 3 years alone, instead of protecting children, 28 states have sought to roll back child labor laws. In response to this, Shine Global has joined more than 50 organizations in the Campaign to End US Child Labor to call for urgent reform to protect children from dangerous exploitation in the workplace, including in the fields where they harvest the food we all eat.

Read more about the making of this film and the conditions for child farmworkers under our current separate and unequal legislation from Shine Global Co-founder and Executive Director Susan MacLaury.

National Farmworker Awareness Week, or NFAW, is a week of action for students, community members, organizations, and other groups to honor farmworkers' important contributions to society and to raise awareness about farmworker issues within their communities.

Visit www.farmworkerawareness.org for more information about how you can take action

Zulema, Perla, and Victor are three American child migrant farmworkers who struggle to preserve their childhoods while helping their families survive by picking the food we all eat.
