Welcome to Peacock Island. Welcome to its idyllic gated community with a golf course that remains operational year-round thanks to its chemically treated greens and fairways. This is where we find teenager Andre, his baby sister, and Dan the security guard who seem to be the only people in town who haven’t been turned into zombies. This Québécois horror film BRAIN FREEZE (written and directed by Julien Knafo) brings a little zombie fun to the festival with some tongue-in-cheek comedy and a clever script. It's a tale of eco-revenge, and while its green ooze and its plant-related zombie theme may be reminiscent of Troll 2, its thematically timely concerns of environment, viruses, and class struggles would make Romero proud.

“Brain Freeze thaws out zombie formula with smart commentary and humour (and) wields its satire in an engaging way that keeps this zombie comedy moving along at a quick and entertaining pace.” Meagan Navarro Bloody Disgusting

“A lot of parallels can be drawn to the current pandemic…(and) chock full of these dark comedic moments.” Chris Aitkens Nightmare on Film Street
