While the stories of Woodstock, Studio 54, and CBGBs are well established in counter culture history, Sleeze Lake tells the tale of a different subculture: custom van culture - vanners. In 1977 this blue collar subculture created their own utopia: Sleeze Lake. A ramshackle, makeshift, frontier-style town on the banks of a pond, that was built purely for having a good time. Telling the story of the vanners and Sleeze Lake through home movies and photographs, alongside interviews with veteran vanners, this documentary shows exactly what happened when 6,000 vans and 20,000 people turn up for a good time in a town that boasted an x-rated movie theatre, a disco, a barber shop, a maze, and much, much more. Sleeze Lake is a cinematic celebration of an unknown subculture and a town on the edge of reality.
