The crowd-pleasing Sun Children is “a Dickensian tale with a Disney touch” (Screen International) set in bustling Tehran where poverty-stricken 12-year-old Ali and his friends are resourceful at surviving on the streets. The boys are hired by a dangerous criminal to find buried treasure hidden under the maintenance tunnel of an inner-city school for homeless and immigrant boys. The friends manipulate the teacher to enroll them in the school where many of them perform well. Ali then takes charge of the treasure hunt by skipping classes, and makes significant progress in the tunnel before his world falls apart around him.
