Director Biography - Koby Shimada

Born, raised, and worked as a sales person for DELL computer in Japan.

Moved to Los Angeles from Tokyo to be an actor in 1999. He is in “Last Samurai”, “Spiderman 2”, “Inception” and so on. After he made an independent movie with his friends, he started focusing on the production side. Since then, he has experienced camera department, sound department, and grip & electric department in several films. He founded a video production company, KOBY PICTURES, in 2003 and has made movies, TV commercials, promotional videos, and documentaries as a director/editor.


Director Statement

Koby met Dr. Omura through rugby in 2006. Koby heard his volunteer story in Southeast Asia in 2008. Since then, he has followed and filmed his activity for about 12 years. So he has a lot of footage for his activity all over asian countries.

Then he has decided to make a feature documentary film about his story from 2007 to 2019 as a first episode.
