A friend of the family and fellow taxi cab driver has recently committed suicide which puts Neela and her father who drives a cab in NYC on edge. Neela starts hanging out with new friends after her father, Adeel allows her to start playing soccer after school while her mother is in Pakistan.

When Adeel picks Neela up from school after practice, Neela lies about her father driving the taxi and gets in the back seat. Tensions start to rise as Neela figures out her place in the world at a private school with more middle class students. Adeel tries to keep the truth about his dwindling business from her.
