About Lincoln University:

Lincoln University was founded in 1854 as the nation's first degree-granting Historically Black College and University, or HBCU. Originally chartered as Ashmun Institute, it was re-named Lincoln University in 1866 in honor of President Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln University educates and empowers students to lead their communities and change the world.

The Brenda A. Allen Need-Based Scholarship Fund will support Lincoln University students with "gap funds".

The affordability challenges facing Lincoln University students are not unlike the challenges colleges and university students face across our nation. At Lincoln University, increasingly students seek "gap funds" to remain at Lincoln and to graduate. Gap funds are the critical dollars students need to bridge the difference between the cost of their education and the total financial resources they can secure.
