At the annual family Christmas dinner, Magda reveals the shocking news that she has swapped her Chinese Studies Major for Hebrew. Her grandmother, Bella, adamantly objects, threatening to withhold Magda's financial support. But rebellious Magda doubles down, insisting she will find a way to pay herself, even if it means standing on a street corner. An argument ensues and Magda leaves the dinner in tears, shocked by the discovery that her grandmother, her beloved babichka, is an anti-Semite! But the discoveries are just beginning, and as more family secrets come to light, what they'll learn will change their lives forever.
