Who is Danny Gatton?

Danny Gatton, “The World’s Greatest Unknown Guitarist,” combined jazz, rock, country, blues, and rockabilly into dazzling mélanges of sound. A conflicted, paradoxical genius, Danny was a humble man, yet his virtuosity humbled musicians far more famous than he.

Danny inspired such titans of music as Les Paul, Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Eric Clapton, Joe Bonamassa, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Slash, Albert Lee, Joey DeFrancesco, Eddie Van Halen, Lou Reed, and many more.

THE HUMBLER – DANNY GATTON showcases Danny’s jaw dropping abilities. The movie follows Gatton - traditional master as well as visionary stylist - as he and his guitar move seamlessly through disparate music genres.

With exclusive access to previously unreleased material, THE HUMBLER weaves Danny’s music with candid interviews that reveal his struggles, trials, and triumphs, beginning in 1964 to when we tragically lost him in 1994.

Born in Washington, DC, Danny Gatton built his reputation as a Master of American Roots music. Danny loved Made in the USA, especially old cars & guitars! His awe and respect for USA culture & ingenuity can be felt with every note from his guitar. His music unites us as we celebrate our common musical heritage!
