Join Drew Glover, Principal Coordinator of the Selma Bridge Crossing Jubilee, as he interviews Mrs. Joanne Bland, an activist involved in the voting rights movement who was born and raised in Selma, AL. Starting her activism in the 60's with the SNCC (The Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee) around voting rights for blacks in the South, she saw firsthand how racism and segregation created a deadly divide between two races. During the fireside chat, Mrs. Bland will discuss her experience in the struggle, draw connections between the past and the present, and share insights as to how we can move forward effectively into the future.
