Banks are playing a central role in government policy to address an economic crisis. Banks are involved with providing financial services in so many aspects of our society and economy – from individuals, to companies, to governments, to other financial institutions. The relationships can be complex, and the various types of banks are numerous. This session is intended to deepen the financial literacy of community organizers and provide an overview of the banking industry’s role in shaping and building equity in our communities and how we, as citizens, can confront the power that banks have so that our economic power works for us, not against us. Tune in as Delilah Rothenberg, Bulbul Gupta, and Ariel Meyerstein discuss different types of banking institutions and their functions so that civil society has a stronger knowledge of, and viable tools to engage with, the industry.
