Join the activists from the Denver-based Justice for Raverro campaign, which calls on the Regional Transit District (RTD) to terminate its contract with the private security firm Allied. In this session, we’ll examine how privatized security is interwoven with policing and therefore must be included in the movement to defund the police. After local artist Raverro Stinett sustained permanent brain damage following an assault from an RTD Allied security officer, the Justice for Raverro campaign was founded to win alternatives to armed guards, such as mental health workers and unarmed transit ambassadors. Come together with fellow activists to share knowledge and build power as we work to win real community safety and end police brutality.
