The documentary describes the professional journey of a research team from the University of Milan: a journey through nights spent outdoors, field research and groundbreaking laboratory analysis. Using the power of scientific evidence, the film explores the complex connection between our behaviors and the remote ecosystems of earth that we have always considered uncontaminated. Until now.

After months of sleepless nights, a few local residents decided to investigate the source of the smell, forming The Environmental Protection Agency of Kuala Langat. This film follows two such residents in their fight against the tide of plastic waste being sent to Malaysia from overseas.

The film is set in the Balearic Islands, and offers viewers a moment to reflect on the profound presence of plastic in our lives and in our natural environment. The film also offers sweeping landscapes and mystic ocean depths - the point-of-encounter between man and nature – and intends to demonstrate how our over consumption of single-use plastic has tipped the scales, to the detriment of nature, and ultimately ourselves.

Out of Plastic is a documentary film that sets out to explore the obscure depths of plastics in the Mediterranean.

Taking tonnes of energy to source, create, transport, store + discard, our ‘stuff’ ( food, clothes, take-away containers etc.) contributes to climate change (+ pollutes our air + water). We can't recycle our way out.We can stop creating waste.
