Ama, the daughter of two Senegalese asylum seekers who have to return to their country, feels completely Dutch. When her mother and brother are arrested, Ama has to go and look for her father in Rotterdam. During this exciting journey her totem animal reveals itself: an enormous porcupine.

Ama is a passionate swimmer and together with her best friend Thijs, she mainly spends her free time practicing for the upcoming championships. Ama feels completely Dutch, but her parents are asylum seekers from Senegal. Since they are rejected asylum seekers, they have been staying illegally in the Netherlands. When her mother and brother are detained, Ama begins a quest through Rotterdam in search of her father. During this journey, she meets her totem animal - a giant porcupine. Awards
