Join us for an Entertainment Industry Panel and Networking Event.


The panel will cover "Leveling Up after a Successful Short Film."


The panel will start at 6pm sharp and will be followed by a catered networking event at around 7:30pm. Please arrive early to secure a good seat.


Introducing the UCLAxFilmFest 2025 panelists: 



Patrick Coleman, a Hampton, Virginia native and Morris Brown College graduate, established a successful film and television career in Los Angeles. His experience at major studios, including Walt Disney Company, HBO, and CBS, includes contributions to acclaimed shows like NCISThe Shield, and 90210. As a director, Coleman's short film, Bumpy Rhodes earned multiple awards for Best Dark Comedy, Editing, and Best Producer at prestigious film festivals, and his feature film, Patterns of Passion, was showcased at numerous national and international festivals, including the Pan African Film Festival and FESPACO. 



Alexis Jacknow is an LA based, multidisciplinary storyteller. Her Hulu Original feature film, CLOCK, World Premiered at the Overlook Film Festival where it took home an Audience Award. In addition to critical praise, the movie was lauded as one of the "Best Horror Films of 2023" by People, Variety, Collider, Esquire, and Marie Clare. Her short film, AGAIN, World Premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was distributed by Amazon. Her other shorts, OVERNIGHT and GROUP, were distributed by Netflix and garnered her a WGA Award Nomination for Short Form Original. Most recently, her feature script, AIDa, made the 2024 Black List.



Amy Wang is a Chinese-Australian filmmaker based in Los Angeles. Her unique perspective as an outsider fuels her passion for stories about morally ambiguous characters. Amy’s feature film debut – SLANTED (2025) will make its world premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Her short film UNNATURAL, won the Gold Young Director Award at Cannes Lions and premiered at the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. As a writer – Amy wrote on the hit Netflix limited series – FROM SCRATCH, starring Oscar winner Zoe Saldaña. From Scratch received 6 NAACP Image Award nominations including a personal one for Amy for Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Television). She recently was a writer/producer on the Netflix/Brad Falchuk series – THE BROTHERS SUN, starring Oscar winner, Michelle Yeoh. She is the sole writer of the highly anticipated sequel – CRAZY RICH ASIANS 2 for Warner Brothers. 



Bill Watterson’s work has been called “wildly inventive” (Hollywood Reporter), “dazzlingly original” (Empire), and “fresh and inventive” (Rotten Tomatoes). As a member of Mattel’s social media team, the videos he directed for Barbie, Monster High and American Girl have included collaborations with Warner Brothers, Greta Gerwig, Stevie Nicks, Mariah Carey, Claudia Schiffer, Walmart, and NBC’s The Voice. They have generated over 80 million views and earned a Webby, a Telly (Bronze), and a spot on Ad Age’s Top 5 Brand TikToks You Need To Know About Right Now. His feature film directorial debut, the practical effects-driven fantasy Dave Made A Maze, won the Audience Award at its World Premiere at Slamdance. The film has gone on to win a Saturn Award, distribution in over 70 countries, is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes



Oran Zegman is an LA-based filmmaker whose work is inspired by her upbringing with a large Greek-Polish-Jewish family. Oran made her feature debut with the critically acclaimed HONOR SOCIETY for Paramount + and Awesomeness Films, starring Angourie Rice and Gaten Matarazzo. The New York Times raved: “Honor Society comes out of the gate flashing a formal and thematic sophistication so dazzling it might take you a while to realize it’s actually a Young Adult movie." Oran is currently developing the feature length adaptation of her short musical film, MARRIAGE MATERIAL for Fifth Season. The musical short, was acquired by Fox Searchlight and a Student Academy Awards finalist. On the TV side, Oran directed a block of episodes for the Paramount+ series SCHOOL SPIRITS starring Peyton List. Oran is set to direct the Amazon romantic comedy GOODBYE GIRL, produced by Gulfstream Pictures, with production slated to begin in April 2025.


The UCLAxFilmFest 2025 Panel will be moderated by Kim Adelman:



Kim Adelman produced 19 short films, which won 30+ awards and played over 150 film festivals worldwide, including the Sundance Film Festival four years in a row. Recent credits include producing the indie feature “Hancock Park” (2025) and the short “My Demon” (in post).  She wrote the acclaimed filmmaking how-to book Making it Big in Shorts and appeared in many popular Film Courage videos on YouTube. Ms. Adelman currently teaches Low Budget Filmmaking and Developing the Short at UCLA Extension, where she was named Entertainment Studies Instructor of the Year in 2014 and won its Distinguished Instructor Award in 2016.
