Chelly Wilson fled her native Greece in 1939, just before the war broke out, to start a new life in New York City. She had five dollars in her pocket, a huge personality and a lot of chutzpah –just enough to start an empire as the owner of several successful porn theatres and producer of hardcore porn movies. Queen of the Deuce (the nickname given to NYC’s notorious 42nd Street) tells the story of woman who blazed her own trail: a Jew who celebrated Christmas, a devoted wife who welcomed two lesbian lovers into the home she shared with her husband, and a proud Greek who was living the American dream.
