Post film discussion with moderators Franque Bains and Aja Washington from the Black, Bold, & Brilliant programming team and panelists Charlen McNeil and Maryan Shale.

Charlen McNeil stands firmly on a foundation rooted in the pursuit of education and social justice advocacy. Her passion for continuing Grandma Moore’s dedication to education – by any means necessary – is rooted in an enduring desire to help those in marginalized, disenfranchised and underrepresented communities to achieve success on their own terms and evidenced by her own path.

Maryan Shale is a 3rd year student studying Health Society & Policy with two minors in Sociology and Leadership. Maryan was born in Kenya and came to America at the age of 4. She is a first generation college student who loves to advocate for underrepresented communities. She is from a single parent home and is the current President of the Black Student Union and New Vice President of Student Relations Elect. Maryan is on the pre-med track to be a Physician Assistant.

A fresh, smart, and unapologetic look at the double-edged sword of racial and gender oppression that black women face in America, told through interviews from scholars, lecturers, writers, business owners, veterans, comedians, and authors. Hosted by fictional storybook character LaToya Johnson.
