moved to Seattle at age 14. In1965 Eastern Washington university he was an All American football and track star. That’s when He joined the CFL BC Lions and moved to Vancouver. Then Boxing interested him while playing football he even had a tile shot at Canadian Heavyweight Championship of 1967. The same year He qualified for the Pan-American Games and the following in 68 he made Canadian Olympics Team. Music, became his next love with a strong voice, and bass instrumentalist he toured Canada west going and played jazz in New York. To leading a Jazz/Blues fusion group “Master Builder” and latest band “Fah True”
His voice got him into theatre where he stunned audiences with his performance another chapter playing Charlie Parker he stunned audiences with his performances even mastering the art of Shakespeare and the festival; it wasen’t to long that Hollywood came knocking as steady Guest Star roles in popular films and series. The list is long since the early 8o’s : Twilight Zone the movie to 21 jump street and Macgyver to Bevelyhill Cop 3, Hellraiser, Lincoln Thorne ‘Fade to Black,’ The Watchman, where he played himself, and just recently 2021 the popular remake of home Alone.. ‘Home Sweey Home Alone’ and so much more…the man never stopped!!! In 1997 he was nominated for Best Actor of the Year by the NAACP and part of the winning ensemble; ‘Mark Taper Forum.’ He stared role in the ‘Tarzan’ series, with also recurring roles on 90210 and numerous Guest Star roles in various episodic shows and movies. He always come back for his kids in Canada while landing 4 seasons in the Canadian series Neon Rider and countless other up and coming film, sponsored, and taught students of the arts, particularly minorities and disadvantaged teens. He’s been a mentor to the community and his 2 sisters who were Christian ministers; the family value of social contribution and helping others has always been part of his makeup.
Wood Stock of House: Rodrick began his acting career at age 10, starring with Cicely Tyson and Morgan Freeman in “The Marva Collins Story.” His acting credits include work with Paul Winfield, Ving Rhames, Glynn Turman, Giancarlo Esposito and trailblazing Emmy winning directors including Stan Lathan and Peter Levin. Rodrick left the entertainment industry to pursue his career in the law, practicing for over 25 years before returning to his first love of film but now behind the camera as a producer, now writer and director. Rodrick has produced multiple short films and music videos for up and coming filmmakers.
Felicia Simone is a triple threat actress who is debuting her first web series in 2021. With experience in film, TV and theater, Felicia shows off her writing & directing chops in this comedic series. So far the trailer for "The Dating App Chronicles" has 7 festival selections and 2 wins. She is excited to release the full series, and start creating more stories to share!
Reel Vancouver Black Film Fest: Sam Chimes is an Afro-Canadian jazzy hip hop music artist. He is an international street performer, producer, and DJ who has ventured around the world twice, supported by his music. With over 1,000 performances and 2,000+ hours of performance time, Sam Chimes is the performer to bring your event to life.
At just nine years old, Chimes started piano lessons which would only last two weeks. It was these two weeks that would affect the rest of his life. In High School he joined various jazz music classes and went on various experiential field trips which undoubtedly affected his musical style.
The life and legacy of this incredible black man in Canada, a tribute to Vancouver own adopted son William Taylor. He’s one of the most famous unknown faces in Canada of the stage and cinema known all around the world who has excelled not only in the arts but came to the BC shores in 1966 as an all American super athlete signing with the BC Lions (CFL) to say the least…the stage and big screen only scratches the surface when it come to his monumental achievements. A world heavyweight boxer, representing Canada in the Pan American games and the Mexico Olympics in 67/68 from in his home city of Vancouver. Music became his next love with a strong voice, and bass instrumentalist he toured Canada west, played jazz in New York and turned audiences heads with his performances, mastering the art of Shakespeare and over 100 appearances in Hollywood. In 1997 he was nominated for Best Actor of the Year by the NAACP, etc.. It took a community to raise this talented man, father, mentor teacher and now amongst the ancestors.

Born in the 20th century Port of Spain, Trinidad. Lincoln Thorne aka Linx as he’s called, came to Canada by 4years old and grew up in and around metro Toronto before the family moved to Malton suburbs(known for its history of great aeronautics Avrow Arrow). Linx found himself playing music as far back to when he can remember his father (a musician himself back in Trinidad) giving him a saxophone and putting on shows. In his teens, he created a band ‘Genius of Funk’ with Lasalle Stephens (one time producer for Carol Cox) & he put on plays, and won music awards. Linx continued to pursue his artistic gift right out of High School. On the road playing his sax on the street. He studied in Paris, New York, Montreal, London, Spain, etc. Linx then traded in the sax for acting (although he continued buskn time to time to pay his way) he then got a scholarship to study at the Vancouver Film School(class 7). Graduating As producer, director, writer found the industry out west was not easy for Blacks to get into. He decided to move to Montreal, and start his own Black film company ‘Rebel Art society’ for indi Black film and video artists.’ He was accepted in Concordia film production & music program and got more serious in the arts.
